As we present this booklet, From Vision to Reality: The Journey of Healing, to our donors, partners, and friends, we are filled with profound gratitude for the journey that brought us here. What began in the late 1990s as a personal mission to give back to our native country, Guyana, has evolved into a sustainable, decades-long legacy of healthcare transformation.

Through our professional practice in Canada serving the medical community, we realized that long-term domestic capacity, not just short-term volunteer trips, was essential. From this realization, the Caribbean North Charities Foundation (CNCF) was born, starting with our flagship project: the Guyana Burn Care Unit (BCU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Key Highlights

  • The Guyana Burn Care Unit: Established in 2002 as a modern 6-bed specialty ward, remaining the region’s sole specialized facility serving thousands of patients.
  • Workforce Capacity Building: CME and Neonatal Resuscitation training delivered to over 400 local nurses to build lasting internal expertise.
  • Resource Mobilization: Medical equipment containers shipped in partnership with Sunnybrook and Women’s College Hospitals, alongside York Region ambulance and mobility bus donations.
  • Maximum Donor Value: Driven by 100% volunteer administrative support, over 97% of every dollar raised goes directly to outreach programs.
